In Partnership with The Lister Fertility Clinic
The Portland Hospital has teamed up with The Lister Fertility Clinic to offer a new Fertility Service. The Lister Fertility Clinic, the largest and one of the most successful fertility clinics in the UK, now offers a convenient service for those patients working or living in central London.
The fertility service at The Portland Hospital provides an initial consultation with a senior consultant, Mr Rehan Salim, who will advise on the most appropriate treatment plan. If necessary, a semen test can be arranged at The Lister Fertility Clinic prior to the initial consultation at The Portland Hospital.
A full range of investigation and treatment options for fertility are available at The Portland Hospital including diagnostic outpatient procedures and minimal access surgery. Should IVF be required then all ‘work up’ including scans and blood tests will be done at The Portland Hospital and egg collection, embryo transfer and Intra-uterine Insemination (IUI) will be carried out at The Lister Fertility Clinic in Chelsea where counselling is also available to all couples free of charge.
There is no waiting time for treatment and patients can usually commence treatment at a time that suits them.
The Team
Mr Rehan Salim runs the fertility service at The Portland Hospital. Mr Salim is a leading consultant gynaecologist who is a sub-specialist in reproductive medicine and surgery. Mr Salim is experienced in the management of fertility problems and has a special interest in reproductive surgery and IVF. He also holds a consultant position at The University College Hospital NHS Trust. Mr Salim is supported by a comprehensive team of sonographers, gynaecology nurses and a theatre team to ensure a seamless journey for all couples.
Success Rates
We are delighted that each year, The Lister Fertility Clinic’s success rates are well above the national average. The latest success rates are available from the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) who, each year, publish a comparative table of data about different clinics and their success rates.
The Lister Fertility Clinic has used its extensive database to create a 'Fertility Calculator' from which couples can calculate their individual chances of success. This can be found online at www.ivf.org.uk.
