Introducing the Siemens 1.5T Magnet MRI Scanner

The Portland Hospital is delighted to announce installation in the latest in MRI technology in the form of a Siemens 1.5T Magnet MRI Scanner.
The state of the art scanner includes innovative applications that support specialist examinations such as MR, Angiography, 3D reconstruction and whole body imaging. The new system will also allow for evaluation of complex pathologies, enabling the imaging department to undertake a wide range of examinations including Neuro, ENT, Musculo-Skeletal, Cardiac, Oncology, Dermatology, Gynaecology and Fetal to name but a few. Patients can even watch a DVD or listen to music whilst having their scans.
Patients will greatly benefit from this new technology. Claustrophobic patients can, in most instances, be scanned feet first therefore reducing anxiety levels. Scan acquisition can be altered to allow for up to 97% reduction in noise and for obese patients, the scanner can accommodate up to 250Kg without scanning restrictions.
