Mr Okoye is a Consultant Paediatric, Adolescent and Neonatal Surgeon at St Georges Hospital, London, and an Honorary Consultant Paediatric Surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital. He obtained his paediatric surgical training at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, Liverpool, Bristol Royal Children’s Hospital, Diana Princess of Wales Children’s Hospital, Birmingham and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He obtained an MD from the University of Liverpool following a thesis on the effect of antenatal steroids on lung development in diaphragmatic hernia.
In addition to the treatment of common general surgical conditions in children, Mr Okoye has a special interest in the treatment of solid childhood tumours, complex gastrointestinal problems and in paediatric thoracic surgery. St. Georges Hospital, in partnership with the Royal Marsden, is one of only two centres providing surgery for tumours of childhood in London. Mr Okoye is also very experienced in the use of laparoscopic procedures in children.
Mr Okoye is a member of the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and Chair of its trauma committee, the International Association of Paediatric Surgical Oncology and The International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) renal tumours study group. Mr Okoye is widely published in the Paediatric Surgical Literature and maintains an active interest in medical education.
