I am a consultant general paediatrician at University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and in the private sector.

I graduated from St George’s Hospital Medical School (University of London) in 1990. My postgraduate general professional training was in various London teaching hospitals. As well as working in many general paediatric and neonatal units, I undertook specific training emergency and ambulatory care, neurodevelopment and epilepsy. I also completed an MSc in Community Paediatrics with distinction in 2002 (Institute of Child Health, UCL). Most of my postgraduate training took place on a half time basis whist I raised my children.

My first paediatric consultant post was at the Royal Free hospital in 2005. In 2007 I was appointed as a consultant paediatrician at UCLH and also to the role of divisional clinical director for paediatrics and adolescents. This role involved being head of department for a large unit of many paediatric and adolescent specialties. I stood down from the director role at the end of 2012 in order to focus more on patient care and postgraduate education.
As well as being one of the general paediatric team at UCLH and the nearby Portland Hospital, I am the simulation lead for my department and teach doctors and nurses on a number of resuscitation and simulation courses across the North London sector that I also course direct. I am passionate about safe patient care and I am also the associate responsible officer for the specialist hospitals board at UCLH.
