An important part of our quality measures includes the Supervision of Midwives, which is a statutory requirement. The Supervisors of Midwives at The Portland Hospital are a team devoted to supporting best midwifery practice. They are keen to develop proactive relationships with all midwives who practice in the local area as well as influencing the development of quality maternity services.
Supervision of Midwives is a statutory responsibility which provides a mechanism for support and guidance to every midwife practising in the United Kingdom. The purpose of Supervision of Midwives is to enhance the safety of women and babies by actively promoting excellence in midwifery practice.
Supervisors of Midwives give guidance and support to both midwives and mums to ensure that the care offered is right for you, that it is given in the right place; by the right person and that it will benefit you and your baby. A Supervisor of Midwives is on call 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week.
The supervisor can be contacted via the Labour Ward on 020 7390 8395.
