Urology

Paediatric urology is the diagnosis and treatment of congenital (i.e. present at birth) and acquired urological conditions and diseases in children. A paediatric urologist treats disorders of the genitalia (e.g. undescended testicles, hypospadias) and the urinary tract (reflux, urine infections, hydronephrosis).

The Consultant Urologists at the Portland Hospital care for babies and children with urological disorders up to the age of 16.

They also give advice and counselling on abnormalities detected in pregnancy and have very specific expertise in this area in order to provide clear, helpful and sympathetic advice.

Why choose the Portland Hospital for Paediatric Urology?

The Portland Hospital is ‘home’ the some of the UK’s leading Consultant Paediatric Urologists.

Working within a multidisciplinary team of Paediatric General Surgeons, a Paediatric Nephrologist, a Consultant Specialist in bladder function and a Clinical Nurse Specialist and supported by a wider team of healthcare specialists including radiologists, respiratory specialists, dietitians, gastroenterologists and nurses the Consultant Urologists ensure a seamless integrated patient journey for the child and family.
