The Portland Hospital’s group of Spinal Surgeons provide the highest quality care for children with pathologies of and injuries to the spine.
By working as a group of surgeons a cross-cover team has been developed to provide a seamless journey from diagnosis of spine problems through to post surgery rehabilitation.
Rapid access appointments are available, with immediate access to onsite diagnostic imaging facilities. This allows consultants to refer for any necessary scans with instant reporting, helping to speed up the diagnosis process.
Should treatment be necessary the surgeons work as part of a multidisciplinary team including a clinical nurse specialist, radiologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pain management consultants and nursing staff.
The Portland Hospital treats all forms of paediatric spinal disorders and the consultant spinal surgeons have an international reputation for high standards of surgery and care.
The hospital has three state of the art surgical theatres and the paediatric unit is equipped with advanced medical technology and facilities. A 10-bedded Paediatric Intensive Care Unit is available for post-surgery recovery with dedicated staff assigned to the children under their care.
The specialist spinal surgery unit offers a comfortable, calm and reassuring ‘home from home’ environment to accommodate any length of stay with en-suite children’s rooms which can also accommodate one or both parents to stay with their child overnight.
