The Portland Hospital’s Children’s Doc Around the Clock is a private medical appointment service for babies and children up to the age of 18. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
PLEASE NOTE: The Portland Hospital does not have an accident and emergency department and therefore cannot offer appointments for children requiring emergency attention. Please go to your nearest A&E or dial 999.
Appointments on Monday to Friday from 09.00-20.00, on Saturday from 09.00-15.00
You can make an appointment at The Portland Hospital with a consultant paediatrician. Same day appointments are often available and where appropriate will be made following a telephone assessment with one of our paediatric nurses.
If your child requires inpatient care following an appointment with one of our consultant paediatricians, an admission into the hospital can be arranged for appropriate medical conditions by our paediatric team. The experienced team includes paediatric nurses, a paediatric site practitioner, a paediatric resident medical officer and our duty consultant paediatrician who will give advice and oversee all inpatient care.
Appointments on Monday to Friday before 9.00 and after 20.00, on Saturdays before 9.00 and after 15.00
Out of hours, the Children's Doc Around the Clock service gives you the option of a telephone consultation or a home visit with a GP from one of our independent partners Doctorcall. If your child needs admitting to The Portland Hospital for inpatient care, this can be arranged by the GP with our paediatric site practitioner and our duty consultant paediatrician.
