Q Is there anything that I should avoid eating while breastfeeding?
A Eat everything in moderation. If your baby is particularly unsettled, think “what have I eaten in the last 24 hours?” If you have eaten something for the first time since you gave birth, e.g. strawberries, don't eat strawberries for a few days until the baby is more settled. Then have strawberries again. If your baby is unsettled again, your baby may not like "strawberry flavoured" milk, so you should consider avoiding this while breastfeeding. In most cases the baby does not have the same reaction. Unfortunately, what usually happens is that mum is not brave enough to try the food again. Instead she tells anyone who will listen that strawberries upset her baby so recommends everyone else avoid them, hence a feeding taboo is created. If you avoided everything anyone warned you about, you would be left with water, rice and chicken!
