Dr Rina Agrawal, a London Consultant & Hon. Associate Professor in Reproductive Medicine and Obstetrics/Gynaecology, has been awarded the Presidential ‘Hind Rattan’ Award also known as the ‘Jewel of India’ award on the Eve of Republic day in January 2010 in New Delhi, India.
The award recognises her outstanding economic & philanthropic achievements in her field and the significant contributions and service which she has made to India. Besides being actively involved in education and research in the field of IVF and fertility treatment in India, she also proactively participates in charities which educate the orphaned and deprived children of India. Now in its 29th year, the ‘Hind Rattan’ is presented by Indian Government officials each year to 30 leading expatriates from world wide Indian Diaspora.
The award is considered very prestigious and its Advisory Board includes several prominent personalities including members of the Indian Government and former Prime Ministers HD Deva Gowda and IK Gujral.
The Hind Rattan award is the third award which Rina has received within the year as she was nominated for the NHS London Innovations Award last November and appointed the Research Collaborator between Indian College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and UK. This year, she has been nominated to receive her NHS Trust OSCA (Outstanding Service and Care) Awards and will also be awarded the Achievers Gold Medal Award at the House of Lords, London in September this year.
