The Portland Hospital is registered with the Care Quality Commission who inspect us in all we do against their robust standards structure and National Minimum Standards.

We have participated in and achieved accreditation with the CHKS Healthcare Accreditation and Quality Unit (formally Health Quality Service accreditation scheme & previously Kings Fund Organisational Audit) since the 1990's which is an additional, voluntary accreditation.
The Portland Hospital is able to demonstrate that it has successfully achieved re-accreditation against ISO 9001/200 standards since 2009.
CHKS accreditation helps The Portland provide assurance that the highest levels of quality and improvements are continuously achieved.
Consultants using the Portland Hospital
Consultants have to apply for Practicing Privileges at The Portland Hospital.
Criteria they are required to meet include:
- Consultant in NHS
- GMC certificate
- GMC specialist registration
- Professional indemnity insurance
- Enhanced DBS clearance
- Interview with CEO
- Approval by Medical Advisory Committee of The Portland Hospital
